There are two ways to market your business on the internet.
1. Is thru Search Engines, like Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.
2. Is thru an online directory, Yellowbook, Dex, Superpages etc.
Search Engine Marketing can mean optimizing your website, or a pay per click campaign. Pay per clicks are the most effective, as well as the most costly. You pay for as many clicks as you can afford, from $100-thousands of dollars every month! Most pay per click campaigns require payment up front.
Directory Listings, depending on your industry and area can range from $15 per month-thousands per month! Most require a contract, but will let you pay month to month.
Directory listings dont get as much traffic as the Search Engines do. Statistics show that over 2/3’s of the consumer market searches through a search engine, the biggest of those being Google! #1 on the Com Score rating.
I hope that information helps. I have been doing internet marketing and advertising for a long time, so if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.
Hello Karina:
I do agree, you can list your website in the search engines and directories. However, if your website is not optimized you will not enjoy top page rankings in Google and others.
